Xbox Hard Disk Drive Activity LED

How to fit a cool hard-drive activity LED.

1) Open your xbox and remove the drives, to expose the motherboard.

2) Locate the DVD drive IDE connector on the motherboard, and connect a wire to the base of the pin below: see illustration below:

3) Locate the 5v power supply, a leg of a transistor pictured below:

4) Connect up your your LED, a 5v LED of your choosing. Connect a 220 ohm resistor to the anode (longer leg of LED). Then connect the 5v wire to the resistor, and the IDE wire to the other leg of the LED: See illustration below:

6) Drill a hole in your xbox to fit the LED then your done: This LED feature is very nice, following the hard-drive nicely,
